Our group has just returned home from the 70th International Gathering of Masonic Lodges Named for St. Alban in Rockville Centre NY hosted by St. Albans Lodge No. 56 of the Grand Lodge of NY. It was a well put together Gathering featuring the Oklahoma Indian Masonic Degree Team who conferred an impressive 3rd Degree and provided demonstrations of traditional Indian dancing at the banquet last night. We will critique this Gathering as we continue to plan the 71st International Gathering to be held in Philadelphia September 13-15, 2024. As you know we are hosting this Gathering in conjunction with our 150th Anniversary celebration. Our committee is actively working to put together the best Gathering possible and if you are interested in participating in any way in the planning (we already have over 20 participants), please contact our SW, Br. Herman Wilson. As a sign of our commitment to providing an outstanding Gathering, we introduced something new last evening by premiering a promotional video put together by our own Damian Sammons, P.M. which was extremely well received. We anticipate a very large turn out next year and we must put our best foot forward!
We had a very informative stated meeting this past week with the presentation on the history of currency by Dr. Mark Bendett. We were also pleased to welcome Sam Freeman, DDGM who presented the Master Builder Award to Br. Duane Bedley and the Proficiency Pin to Br. Paul Mogianesi for becoming certified in the Business of the Lodge and all 3 Degrees. Br. Paul recently achieved his 1 yr Anniversary in the Fraternity!
Just a reminder that we will have an Extra Meeting on Wednesday, October 25th in Philadelphia with dinner at Maggiano’s at 5:30p. We will be conferring the FC Degree on Brs. Khair Washington, Patrick Campbell and James Mualem.
For those involved in the Planning Committee, we will be meeting at Maggiano’s on Monday, October 23rd at 7pm. I have requested a private room for the evening at which time, our SW, Herman C. Wilson, Jr. will present his term program, officer and committee lists as well as his budget for review.
The WM has asked we organize another Top Golf social event as his term comes to a close so be on the lookout for a “Save the Date” for sometime in early November.
In addition to this email today, I will also be issuing a reminder email from Grandview regarding dues payment for 2024. You will only receive this email if you have NOT yet paid your dues. Deadline for dues payment is 12/31/23. Dues Cards for 2024 for those who paid, will be issued by late November.
The Annual Communication of the Grand Lodge of PA and Installation of Grand Lodge Officers is set for December 27th in Lancaster. If the Lodge is interested in attending the banquet that evening, we are permitted to reserve a table ($120/ attendee) utilizing Lodge funds. Please advise if you are interested in going. I am already registered to attend.
