Good morning, Brethren and hope you are all enjoying this beautiful fall weather!

Before I begin with Lodge business, it’s my sad duty report that Br. Andrew Schure’s father-in-law passed away over the weekend. He has asked me to pass along the service information if anyone is available to attend. The service for Larry Krain will be held tomorrow morning (Monday) at 11am at the Montefiore Cemetery at 600 Church Rd in Jenkintown. Please keep Br. Andrew and his family in your thoughts during this difficult time.

We have a few items to review this week.. first, we had a great stated meeting last Wednesday and Br. Evan Martin did a fine job in running the show with a very interesting guest speaker. We received 2 new petitions so our Lodge just continues to grow!

The next 2 Wednesdays, we will have Extra Meetings at 1 N. Broad St. with dinner at Maggiano’s at 5:30p. This Wednesday we have confirmed Patrick Campbell receiving his EA Degree. Next week, Brs. Wenz Feng and Burhan Youssef will receive their MM Degrees and which newer younger member will be conferring, either Br. Evan or Br. Paul who both in the last month or so have certified in the Master Mason Degree.. a major asset for our Lodge!

I know I sound like a broken record but this year’s International Gathering of Lodges Named for St. Alban is less than a month away. If you are attending, please complete the registration on your own and make your hotel reservation. I’m sure we can figure out carpool arrangements. Also keep in mind it is one year until our own Gathering which will coincide with our 150th Anniversary celebration. We have our Executive Committee put together, but we do need additional volunteers to assist with different aspects of the weekend program being held September 13-15, 2024.

Our stated meeting on October 11th will feature a very interesting guest speaker. Dr. Mark Bendett (a resident of the retirement community where I work) is a world renowned engineer and inventor with over 100 patents to his name and yes, you can Google him. In addition to all of his accomplishments, he is also an avid collector and one of the things he collects is historic currency with some pieces traced back to the printing press of our own Br. Benjamin Franklin. This will be the topic of his presentation and he will bring samples of his collection. As he is not a Brother, we will open our meeting after his talk right after dinner.

As stated at our last meeting, my presentation as District Deputy Grand Master for District D will take place on Saturday, January 20, 2024 and the time has been set for 4pm at the Masonic Temple in Philadelphia in Corinthian Hall. This is an open ceremony so anyone can attend. Masons are requested to be in regalia. My goal is to set up a tour of the Temple for all of my friends and family who have never been in the building and then arrange dinner for after the ceremony in the Grand Banquet Hall. It would be amazing to see a nice contingent of my St. Alban family in attendance as I take this next step in my Masonic journey!

Grandview, Grandview, Grandview.. if you have not created a Grandview account, please do so. I have attached the very simple instructions on how to create an account which allows you to view your Masonic record, change your demographic info as you need and also to keep track of your dues which you can pay online. We have about 51% of the Lodge registered which is great, but let’s shoot for 60%++.

If you have been a master mason for under a year, you can qualify to receive the Master Builder’s Award. I have attached the checklist of requirements. If you are working on the award and need any assistance, please reach out to the Elected Officers.

We have been informed by our DDGM that the next Masonic Baby Shower will be held on Sunday, October 29th and the following is from Br. Sam directly..

      Brothers,

Military Baby Shower will be Sunday Oct. 29th at McGuire Air Force Base. Volunteers to arrive 9:30-10:00 am, if not helping you can arrive 10:30 am. Moms to start arriving 11:00 am. Please dress appropriately, wear a Masonic top or hat if possible. As of today approx. 35 moms registered, expecting close to 50.

Base is requiring the following information to gain access. Full Name, Date of Birth and SS Number. This to be submitted by Oct 12 to Bro. Mark Perlman – [email protected] or myself. If you plan on volunteering, escorting moms to their tables, handing out gifts, serving cake, etc. Please let me know ASAP

This is one of those events that makes you feel proud to be a Mason!

One last little reminder there will be a Secretary/ Treasurer seminar this coming Saturday. I know we will be in attendance. If anyone expected to be at this event has not registered, you can do so on the Grand Lodge website or in Grandview. We are reminded to bring a laptop or tablet.

That’s all for this week! Stay safe and we will see you soon..

      Frats- Jim
