      Brethren,

Hello. I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday weekend despite the bad weather. Remembering the men and women that gave their lives to ensure we have the freedoms we enjoy today should be a top priority for all of us. Their sacrifice should never be forgotten. Our fraternity is deeply tied to the founding of our country. We all hold a special obligation to continue to make sure our fraternity and our country remain strong together for future generations. We are truly blessed that through our Fraternity we have the ability to make a direct impact on the future of our Country.

Our RWGM has a special initiative that I want to make sure all members are aware of. RWGM is leading the way to rebuild the Tun Tavern in Philadelphia. At a recent visitation Robert Brink – RWGM gave an update on the progress that has been made to date. So far a total of 11 million dollars has been raised for the project. 27 million is going to be needed to complete the building. A good deal has been accomplished to date. They include, the purchasing of the site on 2nd Street, developing architectural/engineering plans for the building and getting the approval for the zoning required by the City for Philadelphia. The RWGM explained many details about the project which included the use and payout of the building. He also explained that the Tun Tavern was the birthplace of the US Marines. The US Marines are a partner in this initiative. Our Lodge gave a $10,000.00 donation last year. We will most likely consider giving again at the end of this year. Many Lodges in District C have given generously to this cause. Below is a link for the Tun Tavern website. Please explore the site and consider joining as a friend of the Tun. If you have any questions related to this, please feel free to call me.

Important: We are conferring 3 – Third Degrees on May 30th at the Temple in Jenkintown, PA. We need strong participation for this Extra Meeting. We will have a lite breakfast available prior to the Meeting. The Meeting starts at 9am. We will also go out to lunch after the degree work is finished. Please make every effort to attend.

The next event/detail I want to update you on is the scholarship night in June. I have received 16 applications and the Scholarship Committee will be meeting soon to review the applications. The Joseph A. Fletcher Memorial Scholarship will take place on June 10th at the Temple in the Grand Banquet Hall. The event will start at 6pm with a catered dinner and entertainment lasting until 8pm. We will then move to Norman Hall for the presentation to the students of the award certificates and checks. If you have a relative that has applied for a scholarship, please make them aware of these details. We will provide parking vouchers for all quests at no charge. We are using the same caterer as last year, so the meal should be excellent. Also, keep in mind you can bring a guest. Looking forward to seeing you there.

On June 30th the Masonic Temple will be offering free tours for the Wawa Welcome America Festival. It will be an all day event and we are looking for volunteers to help with various aspects. They include crowd control, answering basic questions, managing ticketing, acting as a tour guide, and helping in the gift shop. You would need to report at 8am at the Temple for instructions and assignments. If you want to volunteer, please let me know.

I will be sending out the meeting notice for June within the next few days.

Please feel free to reach out to me any time if you require any assistance.

      Sincerely,

      Andrew B. Schure
