      Evening Brethren-

I was away this past weekend enjoying Baltimore and our Nation’s Capital. Hope you all had a pleasant Memorial Day holiday remembering those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms. Had the opportunity to visit the various War Memorials and see some of the ceremonies being conducted. Always a moving tribute.

Things are pretty well settled for our Scholarship Dinner and Stated Meeting on June 8th. We have over 80 attending dinner including the recipients, their guests as well as 5 of our 6 petitioners who will be balloted upon that night and a very nice contingent from Equity Lodge No. 591. Guess it’s time we let the cat out of the bag so to speak and let you all know we have been approached by Lodge No. 591 for possible merger. They have sought us out because of our current strong situation plus the fact we meet on exactly the same night at the Temple. We have already had preliminary discussions, formed our respective committees and both District Deputies are aware as well as the Grand Secretary’s office. The merger would effectively double our size and provide a solid amount of money to add to our investment accounts. They are very eager to make this happen and will bring a good number of active members with them. We will discuss more at the Stated Meeting, but wanted to give you all a heads up. Equity Lodge has voted unanimously in favor of merger in preliminary discussions at their own Lodge Meeting. Obviously, nothing is set in stone, but we are actively engaged in good discussions. Please let the W.M. and I know if you have any questions.

June 8th is shaping up to be a really great evening of fellowship and entertainment. Following a wonderful buffet meal in the Grand Ballroom, we will be fortunate to hear our new Brother, Lorenzo Mazzamuto, provide an excellent concert with violin and piano accompaniment. I was also informed today by the Curator of the Library and Museum, Br. Michael Comfort, P.M. that he has graciously offered to keep the Museum and Gift Shop open to any guests attending the banquet who wish to take a tour. Michael will be joining us for dinner to answer any questions about the Museum collection.

At 7:30p we will retire to Renaissance Hall for the presentation of Scholarships, after which we will hold a brief business meeting to ballot on petitions and hopefully welcome a new plural member.

The W.M. has directed that we will be holding Extra Meetings over the Summer for the purpose of conducting the EA Degree on our 6 petitioners, assuming the ballot is favorable. These meetings will be held in ORIENTAL HALL with dinner preceding. Meetings are scheduled for July 13th and August 10th.

I look forward to seeing many of you in the next week as we honor our outstanding Scholarship recipients and hopefully set the path for our petitioners to begin their Masonic journey.

      Frats- Jim
